What are the benefits of membership?

What does it cost to join MPPAW?

2009-2010 dues (full year):

  • Professional includes CEU credits):

    • $140 for membership + meeting fees

    • $80 for membership only (meeting fee $12)

  • Student

    • $65 for membership + meeting fees

    • $35 for membership only (meeting fee $6)

Do you offer partial-year memberships? What if I join later in the year?

  • New members choosing to join January 1 through March 31 can pay a pro-rated 60% of the usual membership (or membership plus meetings) fee.

  • Full-year dues paid April 1 or later (after the March MPPAW meeting, which is 6th of the 7 meetings) will carry through to the next complete season.

What does it cost to attend a meeting if I'm not a member?

2008-2009 meeting fees:

  • Professional $25

  • Student $15

Who is eligible to join?

As dictated by MPPAW bylaws, membership is open to anyone with an interest in applied psychology, and who agrees to further the purposes of MPPAW.

Who is eligible for student membership?

Student membership is available to anyone who is currently enrolled full-time in a graduate or undergraduate program at an accredited college or university, and who agrees to further the purposes of MPPAW.

What’s the benefit of becoming a member versus paying only for meetings I can attend?

Becoming a member:

  • Provides a greater incentive to attend all the meetings

  • Supports your profession at the local level

  • Helps keep dues affordable for all members and reduces the frequency of fee increases

  • Helps keep MPPAW financially sound

Do you offer institutional memberships or discounts for multiple people who join from the same employing organization?

Institutional memberships are not currently available, but are under consideration by the MPPAW Board. Please let a Board member know if your organization may be interested in this type of membership.

What riches are bestowed upon me if I refer someone to MPPAW?

Membership drives usually occur at the beginning and end of the MPPAW season, and sometimes include opportunities to win a prize (e.g., members receive entries into a prize drawing for each new member they've referred).

How do I get more information about becoming a Board member?

Descriptions of Board member positions and duties appear on the website, in the member bylaws. Please contact any officer if you are interested in joining the MPPAW Board.

Yes, MPPAW is established exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes as a not-for-profit, professional association. It is classified as a 501 (c) (6) organization under the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, as amended.
